Council tables proposal to install stop signs at Main and State streets

The Center Point City Council on July 28 tabled a proposal to install stop signs at the intersection of Main Street and State Street.
Public Works Director Kene Shoop described "the issues with the parking and line of sight." Council Member John Stuelke said he was reluctant to add more stop signs along Main Street and suggested measuring and potentially restricting parking to improve visibility before adding signage. The motion to table (M/S Stuelke/McLaughlin) carried on a roll call with all five members recorded as voting Aye.
City staff will measure parking spaces near the intersection and return to council with options for no-parking lengths and other measures intended to preserve traffic flow while improving safety.
