County hires Gallagher for employee health‑plan consulting at $4,000 per month

Melissa Thomas of human resources presented a proposal to hire Gallagher Benefit Services to improve the county's employee health plan. She said the consultant will provide claim audits, pharmacy audits and modeling to find cost savings and improve plan efficiency.
"The cost for these consultants will be $4,000 per month and will be billed through Wellmark in the month end statement," Thomas said. The board discussed potential return on investment and several supervisors said prior experience with similar consultants suggested the work can yield net savings.
Motion to retain Gallagher as the county's health‑plan consultant passed unanimously (motion by Chair/Bittinger; second by Carper). County staff said the consultant fee will be paid from the county health fund and referenced in the upcoming plan renewal documents.
