Trails update: appraisals and easement talks set stage for Cherry Tree Walk bidding in 2027

Parks staff updated the Greenwood Park Board on trail projects, saying the department has a new state reviewer and has adjusted its approach with engineers to move permitting forward.
Staff said appraisals for the easement needed for the Cherry Tree Walk connector (from Freedom Park toward West Wood) are complete and that negotiations with landowners will begin. Staff indicated that, barring delays in state permitting, the department expects to advertise the work for bidding in 2027.
The department also described coordination that would allow several bridge and field projects to be combined into a single procurement package to improve efficiency once legal and planning details are resolved.
