Mayor Josh Ewing proposed forming an 8—9 person housing work group of residents and business representatives to work with a hired consultant to produce a local strategy focused on affordability, including building, water and finance considerations. Councilmembers discussed seeking a range of expertise in the working group to reflect community needs.
Staff said Una, the regional consultant under contract until October, plans to provide a website of resources and a regional framework for a housing foundation; the council discussed drafting and issuing a local consultant RFP in August and the value of issuing a resident survey to collect current data beyond Census records. Ewing said he will begin drafting the RFP.
