The Smithville Board of Aldermen voted to establish the Shops at Smithville Community Improvement District and approved a redevelopment plan under Chapter 353 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri.
Alderman Autumn Atkins moved both measures. The roll-call votes on the second readings recorded by the clerk resulted in five ayes and one abstention on each bill; the mayor declared the motions carried. The ordinances were read aloud by Miss Wagner as required by the motion sequence.
The ordinance approval (bills 3079-25 and 3080-25) authorizes formation of the CID and declares the redevelopment area described in the plan as blighted for purposes of Chapter 353 findings and related actions. The city clerk read the ordinance language making findings and authorizing establishment of the district and related actions.
During the meeting no public speaker registered opposition during the hearing previously held on the redevelopment plan; the board moved directly to the legislative readings and roll-call votes. The clerk reported the roll-call tallies and the mayor ordered the measures recorded as carried with the abstention noted.
The board also introduced related housekeeping items to create a separate Shops at Smithville CID fund for accounting of revenues and expenditures. The creation of the CID fund was approved on the board’s consent actions.
