Twisp planning commission to surface code updates after mayor's suggestion

The Town of Twisp Planning Commission agreed Feb. 12 to prioritize suggested code updates after relaying recommendations from Mayor Smith.

Commissioner Anna Rose asked to change the Housing Action Plan agenda item to "Suggestion from Mayor Smith on code updates," a request she moved and Commissioner Michael Bastian seconded; the motion passed unanimously. According to the meeting record, Mayor Smith asked that the commission gather code issues, research and public comments and present them as a group to Town Council to streamline revisions. Planner Thom Vetter was directed to identify which portion of the code should be updated first, and Commissioners Rose and Rachel Levi, together with Vetter, were noted as resources from the HAP work group who will advise the commission.

The change shifts the commission's immediate focus from general HAP progress to actionable code edits that staff can bring forward for council consideration. The meeting minutes describe the HAP as "grinding slowly along," and commissioners agreed that pinpointing specific code sections will make the revision process easier for the town and public reviewers.

The commission asked staff to return with recommended next steps and a prioritized scope for code updates at a future meeting.
