The Village of Holiday Hills Board unanimously approved the resignation of Police Chief William Copp during a special meeting on June 24, 2026. Trustee Michele Brown moved to accept the resignation and Trustee Kamil Pawlak seconded; the board recorded a 6-0 vote in favor.
The decision followed a closed executive session on personnel; minutes for that portion of the meeting are confidential and are recorded separately. President Giles brought the item forward in public session and the board confirmed the personnel action. Attorney Jennifer Gibson advised the board that, without police officers on staff, the village could lose revenue tied to local ordinance enforcement. The board directed several interim steps: in the short term administrative policing tasks will be handled by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Attorney Gibson will contact MCSO to begin discussions about an intergovernmental agreement. President Giles was also asked to contact remaining officers and suspend their schedules in the interim.
