The board considered and adopted a credential-waiver resolution to allow a teacher with a doctorate, whose academic coursework had been categorized in science rather than math, to teach a geometry course while the district obtains the required state approval.
Staff explained the waiver is a paperwork step to satisfy state credentialing requirements. "It's a credential waiver for a teacher who is teaching geometry, with a doctorate," the district administrator said, noting the teacher's classroom performance: "She walks on water in that class, so it's fine." Trustees moved to adopt the waiver, a motion was seconded, and the board approved the resolution by roll call.
Staff will file the waiver with the appropriate state office and monitor any follow-up actions required by the state to finalize authorization.
