Resident urges interfaith understanding; another questions red-light vendor ties

Yusuf, who introduced himself at the podium, urged the board and community to reduce division and offered a brief primer on Islamic greetings and scripture to promote mutual understanding. "Assalamu alaikum...My name is Yusuf," he told trustees, and cited passages from the Quran (Suratul Ambiya and Suratul Iqlas) to explain the faith's message of mercy and monotheism.
Later in public comment, Chris McCullough of 829 Brentwood Drive questioned a staff resolution to authorize the village manager to contract with Municipal Collection Services LLC for unpaid red-light ticket collection. McCullough asked why staff could not provide the number of unpaid tickets or predict the budget impact and questioned how fees and revenue shares would be allocated. He also cited a May 2023 General Assembly ethics law and alleged prior campaign contributions to the president: "That law didn't matter to Redspeed. That law didn't matter to Frank DeSimone...Red Speed has contributed $7,000 to Friends for Frank DeSimone since 04/20/2018," McCullough said.
The board did not debate these claims during public comment; the president closed public comment after both speakers and moved on to the agenda.
