The Board approved an engineering agreement with Engineering Enterprises Inc. The work, estimated at $39,842, will support development of a multi-year project plan, assist with loan and principal-forgiveness applications through EPA programs, and provide policy consultation on how to fund replacement of public and private portions of service lines.
"We've identified approximately 700 potential lead service lines within the village. That's 700 of our 44,500 services in town," the public works director said, and staff said the village would like to replace as many lead services as possible over the next 5–7 years while developing a longer 17-year plan to eliminate lead services. The board approved the agreement by roll call; staff noted EPA funding opportunities through the public water supply loan program that include principal forgiveness.
