At the public-comment portion of Tuesday's meeting, a local pyrotechnic team led by Jake Portenkirchener described training and plans to donate labor to enhance Bensonville's LibertyFest fireworks. Peter Cangelosi of RKM Fireworks offered a donated show, saying, "It's a free $57,500 show donated to the village to show you what we could do. We'll shave you guys $57,000 for your fireworks show."
Separately on the agenda under recreation and events, staff presented recommended vendors and multi-year contracts for LibertyFest and Music in the Park. The board approved a multi-year fireworks contract with Mad Bomber Fireworks (Matt Baumer) for LibertyFest 2025–2027; staff said Mad Bomber has been a partner for the past seven years and proposed no price increases. One trustee voted no on the fireworks resolution; the motion passed with the remaining trustees in favor.
