The Town of Coats Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a $22,960 contract with Water Worx Services for emergency storm-drain repairs at its Nov. 13 meeting.
Town Manager Barbara Hollerand told commissioners that Public Works obtained a competing quote of $25,000 from Country Construction Corporation in Benson but recommended the lower Water Worx bid. "Public Works got an additional quote from Country Construction Corporation located in Benson for $25,000, and staff was recommending approval of the quote from Water Worx Services for $22,960," the minutes state. The board approved a budget amendment to cover the contract and then voted to award the work to Water Worx.
Public Works Director Wesley Blount responded to timing questions, saying the work "would have been done by the end of the year, but he would have to check again since it had been pushed back." The board recorded the motion to approve the budget amendment and the motion to use Water Worx as passing unanimously.
The approved contract is for the emergency repairs only; the minutes do not specify the exact locations or the anticipated completion date beyond Blount's estimate that staff expected the work to be done by year-end pending scheduling. The action does not include a separately listed contingency or funding source beyond the budget amendment recorded in the minutes.
