Village staff on Tuesday asked the Board of Trustees to continue the public hearing on a proposed South Industrial Special Service Area so officials can finalize cost estimates and benefit calculations before seeking property-owner assessments. The public works director said the project scope includes new concrete pavement, curb and gutter, driveway aprons, sidewalks, street-light upgrades and street-sign replacements, plus underground improvements including a new 12-inch ductile iron water main, new parkway water services, sanitary sewer mainlining and storm-sewer upgrades.
"Any lead services that are found in the project corridor will also be replaced," the public works director said, and staff told trustees the village plans to contribute roughly 50% toward the work while they seek final figures and grant opportunities. Staff requested the hearing be continued to Feb. 25 at 6 p.m.; the board moved, seconded and by roll call voted to continue the public hearing to that date.
The continuation means trustees will consider the finalized numbers and any property-owner benefit estimates at the Feb. 25 meeting before acting on whether to form the SSA. No formal assessment or formation decision was made at Tuesday's session.
