The Beatrice City Council approved Resolution No. 7828, the second amendment to a contract of sale with Poppy and Sons LLC, to extend the transaction closing date. Staff explained the buyer needs additional time to obtain title insurance and complete paperwork; staff requested moving the closing from August 7 to September 2.
"Closing was set for August 7. They've indicated they're ready to proceed with closing or acquiring the south side of Stuyter School. If anybody's here has ever purchased property, you know, it takes a little more than five days for us to get title insurance ordered," staff explained when presenting the resolution. Council passed the resolution 7–0 with no public opposition recorded.
The extension allows staff and the buyer to finalize title work and other closing requirements; no other terms of the sale were discussed during the meeting.
