On the community center, staff reported the county fire marshal had increased review scrutiny because the site sits in a wildland-urban interface area; staff are responding to questions and expect the review to conclude soon. The board discussed whether local volunteer fire departments had need or interest in using any of the wells being decommissioned; staff said fire agencies have access to district water but the state water board requires abandonment of compromised sanitary seals to protect the aquifer.
Board members welcomed the near-term progress but asked staff to keep the board updated on contractor substitutions and contingencies that could affect timing.
