Mayor and staff said the budget included $75,000 for auditing but the first‑year proposal is $80,000; staff argued the extra cost was justified by capacity and by the expectation of more timely audits in subsequent years. "As a larger firm, they have the capacity where they can work multiple people on multiple items and get this done," the mayor said. Council approved the resolution on roll call (12–0).
