Sedgwick County seeks grant funds to add traffic signals at multiple intersections

Public Works told the commission it has submitted or will submit four Highway Safety Improvement Program grant applications focused on intersection safety, including signalization at 47th & Greenwich and 45th & Ridge Road and improvements along MacArthur (119th). Daniel, the Public Works representative, said one project is already in the county's Capital Improvement Program and that the grant would replace or augment existing funding.
Commissioners asked whether the grants cover design or construction; Daniel confirmed the applications are for construction work, including full signalization at selected intersections. One of the projects (the KDOT agreement) carries a county fiscal note: a $1,750,000 project with the county's share at $175,000, which staff said will be noted in the consent agenda.
