On behalf of Sedgwick County Fire District 1, Bridal Rosencutter recommended accepting a Motorola Solutions quote for $81,092.96 to replace handheld radios that are no longer serviceable. Rosencutter said the radios would be assigned to apparatus serving the Bentley and Viola volunteer fire departments and would provide vital out-of-vehicle communications during emergency incidents.
"The handheld radios will be replacing old radios that are no longer serviceable," Rosencutter said. A board member moved to accept the Motorola quote; the motion received a second and the board voted by roll call to approve the purchase. Purchasing staff explained the single-source justification: the current Motorola contract and the need for continuity with existing inventory and interoperability with emergency communications.
