Farmingdale officials reported on Nov. 10 that electric-vehicle charging stations have been installed in Parking Lot 3 but will not become operational until the village installs software and establishes rates.
Staff said the village needs to change restricted-parking signage and enforcement language so non-EV vehicles that park in charging spaces and do not charge can be cited; the board directed staff to consult with Bob Kirk for recommended enforcement language and to get charging-price recommendations from installers. The minutes also note recent installation of charging stations by DPW in another lot and link charging-station activation to software and rate-setting processes.
No activation timeline was recorded in the minutes beyond the requirement to complete software installation and set rates before the stations go live.
