Principals and department chairs update trustees on assessments, curriculum and school culture

CUHS and Centennial principals and department chairs briefed the Board on interim assessments, curriculum adoption work, STAR benchmark results, extracurricular activities and staffing plans including projected long-term substitutes for spring.
Department chairs and school principals used the report section to update trustees on academics, testing and programmatic work.
Social Science Department Chair Thomas Mendonsa gave class-size averages and department priorities (Geography 29, World History 28, US History 27, Gov/Econ 33) and described AVID and MTSS emphasis. VAPA Chair Sarah Trammell highlighted student art displays, the 2026 Endangered Animal Calendar and growth in extracurricular programs. CUHS Principal Jason Armstrong (reporting via Zoom) outlined interim block assessments, a math curriculum adoption process with county partners, STAR testing windows (December–Jan. 15) and spring staffing needs; Centennial Principal Audri Bakke presented STAR benchmark details: Reading proficiency 19.4% (improvement +1.2%; growth 48%) and Math proficiency 14.8% (improvement +5.7%; growth 50%).
Trustees thanked staff for the reports and invited targeted follow-ups as part of the spring staffing and budget planning cycle.
