James Flood spoke in favor of vacating the portion of the street and supported renovating the Calumet Depot; Virginia Dwyer said she opposed the vacation and told the council she had submitted documentation to the Village office for the record.
Other speakers focused on practical concerns rather than taking a firm position for or against. Sandy raised the potential cost to the Village and taxpayers for increased snow removal if the street were vacated. Another attendee asked whether St. Paul’s Church had completed a legal review of any agreement with the Depot property owner. Peggy Germain, joining by Zoom, reported technical problems that affected remote participation. Clerk Lori Weir confirmed that one written public comment had been received and would become part of the official record.
