Council awards $108,632 contract for Swangata culvert rehabilitation

The Galesburg City Council approved awarding a competitively bid contract to Miller & Son Construction Co. in the amount of $108,632 for the Swangata culvert rehabilitation project.
"Staff recommends approval of a bid from Miller and Son construction company in the amount of $108,632 for the Swangata culvert rehabilitation project," Hansen said, describing work to rehabilitate the culvert beneath North Swangata Road, stabilize a failing roadway slope, line the culvert, install a manhole and extend storm pipe; additional work will include ditch backfilling and guardrail removal. The project received four bids and Miller & Son submitted the lowest responsible bid.
Staff said funding is included in the 2026 budget with $75,000 from the TIF 5 fund and the remaining balance from the stormwater utility fund. Council approved the award by voice vote (7 yes).
