Council adopted Resolution 2026‑05 to submit Dunsmuir’s annual housing element progress report to the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD). Planner Gary, filling in for a departing staffer, said the report documents work on roughly 25 programs in Dunsmuir’s housing element, including actions to reserve water and sewer capacity for low‑income units and a no‑net‑loss policy for affordable housing inventory.
Gary noted the city’s RHNA allocation (regional housing needs allocation) was three units and reminded the council that the state has tightened accountability for housing element implementation. A public commenter asked about the status of a Travelers Hotel project and whether the packet text should be corrected; Gary said the state submittal would include the required tables and staff could make local clarifications separately. Council then moved to adopt the resolution; the motion passed by voice vote.
