Tom Joseph added that the USDA and SNAP benefits timeline poses a direct risk to CalFresh recipients and that federal and state advocates are monitoring legislative proposals to continue SNAP and ACA subsidy coverage. The board voted to adopt the 2026 federal and state platforms by roll call vote 5-0; staff said the platforms will guide lobbying and be posted to the county legislative affairs site.
Supervisors asked follow-ups about HUD and FEMA reimbursements, impacts on local voucher programs and the potential need for county contingency planning should federal funding be delayed; staff committed to bringing updates as conditions evolve.
