Multiple members and staff acknowledged the auditor's work building the Transparent Utah asset-investments data explorer and recommended continued modest investment in automation, data validation and user-interface improvements. One member thanked the author of the recommendation and several participants praised the dashboard as essential background for the report.
Some members questioned whether a paragraph suggesting the dashboard be retained under the auditor's office belonged in the task force report, noting that the task force had not debated the dashboard's jurisdiction and that including such language might draw the task force into another political debate. Staff agreed to retain language about the auditor's role only to the extent it reflected the office's independence and the benefits of having an impartial verifier for publicly reported figures.
