DuPage County named 2026 AI50; committee outlines employee training, pilots and October workshop

The DuPage County Technology Committee announced that the county was recognized as a 2026 AI50 organization by the Center for Public Sector AI, highlighting the county's efforts to pair innovation with governance. The chairwoman said the county had trained "more than 270 county employees in responsible AI," established an AI resource center and implemented an AI-powered land-record solution to help "flag suspicious activity to better help protect homeowners from fraud."

Committee leaders said the county is testing additional platforms: the chairwoman announced a Google Gemini pilot later in the month and an AI leadership workshop in October that will include hands-on sessions with Microsoft Copilot and Google Gemini. She framed these steps as part of a measured approach: "Rather than simply adopting new technology, we have focused on responsible governance, employee education, and practical applications that improve government services," the chairwoman said. The committee was also reminded to attend the next technology committee meeting on Aug. 18, when the information technology department will present its proposed fiscal year 2027 budget.
