Sheriff Russell Thornton presented the School Resource Officer agreement for the 2025–2026 school year and noted the position's salary is shared between Ottawa County and two school districts. Thornton said the current SRO also "serves as a deputy during the summer months," and that one district is working on a grant to help supplement funding.
On a motion "To approve the contract for the School Resource Officer for the 2025-2026 school year," moved by Commissioner Carla Grund and seconded by Commissioner Duane Morris, the Commission voted 3-0 to approve the contract. The contract was described as the same as last year and reviewed by the County Attorney.
