Elementary administrator: Fine Arts Fest, Community Cares Day and staffing gaps ahead of fall

Kimber Larson presented the Elementary School report at the April 20 meeting, saying, "There will be a Fine Arts Fest this Friday." She told the board the event will include artwork around the building, some fourth-graders singing and a food truck. Larson also described a Community Cares Day that will split students into four groups assigned to the NICE Center, Hinkley Food Pantry, Waterman Lion's Club and the high school SMILE Club.
Larson said kindergarten readiness events are going well and the district is expecting 40–45 kindergarteners next fall. She also notified the board that the elementary school still has vacancies: a fourth-grade teacher and a social worker. A volunteer breakfast is scheduled Friday from 8:00 to 8:30 a.m.
