"It's gonna be about 2 years," a staff member said when discussing the estimated timeline. Staff clarified the estimate covers drafting and adoption as well as post-adoption tasks that will prepare the city for enforcement and implementation. Commissioners asked whether the timeline includes adoption and the post-adoption execution; staff confirmed both phases are included in the estimate.
Staff said the team will assess which ordinance items might be expedited and that the official map ' which the city currently lacks ' may be moved to the front of the project because it could provide earlier protections when new land-development applications arrive. The staff encouraged commissioners to participate in focus groups and community meetings to inform priorities and accelerate items where feasible.
