Jackson County approved Order No. 195-26 to accept funds from the State of Oregon, by and through its Department of Environmental Quality, to support an Air Quality Coordinator position in the County’s Health and Human Services Department. Joel Benton explained the Coordinator will perform administrative and code enforcement duties under the Codified Ordinances of Jackson County and assist with pollution prevention and local air-quality coordination.
The board voted unanimously to approve the intergovernmental agreement. The order specifies the DEQ will provide funds for the Coordinator position and that the County will assign the Coordinator to support air-quality efforts with local agencies and groups; the minutes do not record specific fund amounts or the term of the agreement.
