SCOE honors Special Education student, spelling bee, science fair and academic decathlon winners

The Solano County Office of Education recognized Special Education and JCCS students of the month and announced winners from the county science fair, spelling bee and academic decathlon advancing to state competitions.
The board paused regular business to celebrate student achievements. Pamela Brinkerhoff introduced the SCOE Special Education Student of the Month, King Dias; Shakita Banks, a TK teacher at TC McDaniel Early Learning Center, described King's resilience and contributions in the classroom as he prepares to move to kindergarten and to Fairfield-Suisun district programs.
The board also recognized winners from the Solano County Science and Engineering Fair (more than 160 entries across divisions), spelling bee champions who will advance to state competition, and the county academic decathlon team from MIT Academy. Program manager Steph Moragato and director Kelly Burch thanked volunteers and partners and invited the board to applaud students who will represent Solano County at the next level.
