The Los Olivos board voted to authorize property tax assessments for the coming year with a CPI adjustment, while directing staff to review a specific parcel that had previously been exempted.
Staff explained the standard CPI adjustment (about 3%) and noted parcel-count changes stem from merges that reduced the number of assessed parcels to 371. A board member asked for guidance on a vacant parcel (parcel 135082020) owned by a church that had been exempted by an earlier resolution. Legal counsel advised the board that a parcel clearly not being used for religious purposes would not qualify for a tax exemption, and suggested bringing back a modification to the prior exemption resolution so the county list can be adjusted.
The board approved Resolution 25-03 by roll call and asked staff to return next month with a proposed amendment to the earlier exemption resolution and to coordinate any necessary county updates. Vice President Palmer said bringing the parcel list in line with the county’s records was appropriate if the parcel is not used for religious purposes.
