Resident presses council on graffiti, potholes and downtown upkeep

Brian Wilson, a downtown resident and business patron, told the council that while the city celebrates its award-winning water, the distribution site and other downtown spots show graffiti and broken faucets and that potholes and unpainted curbs give visitors a poor impression: "It's kinda confusing to me that we bring people into our town, and we want them to think the best of it. But yet we can't even give them a good representation because we've got graffiti all over town," he said.
Wilson asked whether the issues are due to a general-fund shortage, staffing levels, or mismanagement, and urged the council to direct attention and resources to cleaning downtown to support tourism and local businesses. Staff told residents to report graffiti or code issues via the city's web portal, phone or by visiting city hall so they can be logged and addressed.
