County approves contractor training tied to Whole Home Repairs program

A county presenter explained the MOA, stating, “This is a memorandum of agreement for the full home repairs program, which which provides funding to county agencies for habitability, energy efficiency, and accessibility.” The presenter said one grant requirement is investing in training that strengthens the local construction workforce. The training would be delivered by a community college and cover the EPA Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) rule and HUD lead‑safe housing requirements so contractors working on pre‑1978 housing understand federal safety standards.
The board moved and carried the motion to approve the MOA. Staff said the training is intended to prepare contractors to participate in this Whole Home Repairs program and any future county renovation initiatives.
