A county staff presenter described the application and project scope, saying, “So the resolution is to apply for a DCD multimodal transportation fund grant for that $530,574.” The presenter said the county will apply for funds to repair bridges in Polk Township, Snyder Township and Yonge Township, and reported a total project cost of $757,963 with an approximately 30% local match of $227,389 from the county’s liquid fuels fund. Staff also noted Jefferson County owns and maintains 33 bridges, a higher inventory than the five neighboring counties combined, and framed the grant as a priority to preserve safe, reliable transportation.
The chair moved the resolution and the board approved the motion. Staff emphasized the application is a request for grant funding and that award and final implementation will depend on the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s decision. If awarded, the grant would fund rehabilitation work on the three named bridges with the county providing the stated local match.
