Board approves settlement participation and urban-renewal report; actuary flags $125,000 shortfall in county health plan

County administration reported an actuarial review of the self-insured health plan showing incurred-but-not-yet-paid reserves of $816,700 against a June 30 fund balance of $691,846 — an approximate $125,000 gap. Ryan Erickson said he will bring a motion next week to transfer ~$125,000 to eliminate the deficit and remain in compliance with Iowa law; he said the transfer has been discussed with the auditor and would not trigger audit findings.
