Eric told the board the city has taken over the old farmers market and moved it to Lions Park, with the first market scheduled May 28 from 4 to 7 p.m. "The city of Kearney took over the the old farmers market and moved it down to Lions Park on 1st Street," he said, describing planned street closures and vendor layout.
Staff said they will block 1st Street from Jefferson toward Bear Creek and have coordinated parking and overflow options with nearby businesses and the 1st Baptist church. Vendor applications are online and the fee is $45, Eric said; board members asked about who is managing food trucks and logistics, and staff said they will handle barricades and setup starting around 2 or 3 p.m. on market days.
