Staff said the village's inventory identified about 50 known lead service lines but a later reference in the discussion cited 61; staff noted that addresses marked "unknown" also fall under the requirement and mapping and measurements will be needed. "We have 50 lead lines is is what our inventory showed... 61," a staff speaker said, reflecting the internal discrepancy attendees flagged during the meeting.
Trustees directed staff to identify engineering firms to prepare the replacement plan; several trustees said engineers the village has worked with could provide estimates, and staff noted some grant programs may cover engineering costs if the village applies promptly. The IEPA requires updated plans annually and a final replacement plan by April 15, 2027, and trustees were advised to plan earlier rather than wait until the deadline.
No construction or replacements will take place until plans are filed: the board emphasized the immediate need is an engineered plan, mapping, and a timeline to meet IEPA reporting requirements and pursue available grants.
