Council considers ad hoc committee for vacant parcel between pool and community center; item tabled

Mayor Lucchese presented a draft resolution to create a city property ad hoc committee to explore redevelopment options for assessor’s parcel number 059-060-150-000, the vacant parcel between the pool and community center. The resolution would define the committee’s purpose and parameters and direct the committee to solicit community input before recommending actions to the council. “Essentially, I prepared for council consideration a resolution of the city council to authorize the creation of a city property ad hoc committee and defining the committee purpose and parameters,” the mayor said.
Park & Rec Director Mike Rodriguez asked whether the district would be considered for potential office space while the city remodels or relocates Public Works; council members said there is currently no available space but that the ad hoc process could explore options. Council members agreed to table appointments to the committee until the next meeting to allow absent members to participate and to ensure broader community engagement.
