The Shabbona Pathway committee reported that its September meeting was canceled while the group waits for an Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) local projects funding grant award that would help match an ITEP grant for the pathway's next leg. Grant awards are expected to be announced in early October, and the pathway committee will reconvene on Oct. 11.
Building Shabbona Together (BST) said it continues fundraising to meet an OSLAD grant match for improvements at Lions Park and is gathering shade-structure information and final materials to present to the village in October; BST's next bimonthly directors' meeting is scheduled for Oct. 23.
The board asked staff and committee leaders to coordinate timing with the village so that the public presentation and any required village approvals can proceed once grant awards and designs are finalized.
