City staff reviewed five notable technology incidents from 2025. I.T. Director Jen Demaline told the committee that a dataset posted online by a hacker group partially matched old city-associated IP addresses but that staff determined no current city data had been compromised and no reporting was required.
Other incidents included more than 100 automated UPS backup alerts—primarily at the municipal pool—leading to an investigation with First Energy; fiber‑optic link failures that caused the pool phone outages and required replacement of aging fiber modules; brief email disruptions during the Microsoft 365 migration; and frequent automated backup alerts that were reviewed and resolved without data loss. Staff presented these items for committee awareness and oversight.
