Police report: stolen vehicle recovered, arrests and e-bike enforcement credited to outreach

The police chief told council the department handled 680 calls for service in July and reported 17 adult arrests and six juvenile arrests. The chief described an incident in which officers recovered a vehicle stolen out of Abington Township and located three juvenile suspects, saying officers charged them with theft and related offenses in juvenile court.
The chief credited residents who called 911, saying the quick identification and arrests were "instrumental" and highlighted a recent public-safety push on e-bikes and scooters that, he said, produced a marked drop in unsafe riding by children after the borough started enforcing existing laws. The department also listed training activity and equipment displays planned for an upcoming National Night Out event.
Council thanked the department for the report and for community outreach efforts.
