A fire company representative presented July activity numbers to the council, reporting "for the month, we had 3 fire incidents in the borough, 26 non fire, 23 calls from mutual aid, 4 drills, total of 56 fire calls for the month, 411 fire calls so far this year." The report listed two residential building fires, several accidents with injuries, three gas leaks and property-loss estimates for the month and year.
The presenter said there were no firefighter or civilian injuries recorded for the month and described training activity: four drills, an average of 20 firefighters in training and more than 130 training hours for the month. Officials promoted National Night Out (6–8 p.m. tomorrow at Borough Hall), equipment displays and a Lowe's store anniversary event on Aug. 15.
Council members thanked the fire company for the report and encouraged residents to attend the outreach events.
