The Avon Town Council authorized the Town Manager to execute a two‑year extension with American Medical Response (AMR) for advanced life support and ambulance services, covering July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2028.
Chief of Police Neil Dryfe recommended the extension, saying AMR has been responsive to Avon and noting the contract “does not cost the Town any money as AMR bills our very highly insured resident population; that is how the model works in many other communities as well.” Dryfe said AMR typically staffs one ambulance with occasional mutual‑aid responses when a local unit is tied up and that call volume does not currently warrant a second unit dedicated to Avon.
Council authorized the Town Manager to execute the extension on a unanimous vote (motion by Mr. Weber, seconded by Ms. Ausiello). Dryfe also noted local dispatch improvements and planned awards recognizing AMR personnel in a police awards ceremony later in the month.
