Commission debates updating charter to match new master plan

Members of the Parks, Pathways and Recreation Commission said the panelshould update its charter so it aligns with current practice and the city's comprehensive master plan. "I think in the, you know, the 10 years since this was, signed, obviously, the city has grown a lot," a committee member said, arguing the duties in section 4 appear mismatched with what the commission now does.
Commissioners proposed revising the commission's language to define success and to prevent future confusion about the panel's role. "Let's change the paper so that we can define what what success is for our committee," one member said, and others agreed the master plan process offers an opportunity to align responsibilities and clarify entry points for recommendations to council. The commission discussed holding a study session or workshop where staff and council representatives could present and the public could be noticed.
