Resident suggests low-cost mountain-bike/BMX park for land next to Dunsmuir pool

During the public-comment period of the March 5 meeting, Audrey Giles suggested the city consider using the property next to the pool to create a low-cost mountain-bike or BMX park. Giles said the project could use wooden ramps and berms similar to a facility near Mount Shasta and suggested local volunteers and a heavy-equipment operator could help with construction.
"So I just think it'd be great for the kids and very little cost and very actually doable for the budget," Giles said. She said her husband (a carpenter) and a local heavy-equipment operator had offered volunteer time and that she could reach out to a group called Jasta Gravity for design help. Council members asked to include discussion of pool-adjacent property on a future agenda so a full council could consider forming an ad hoc committee and solicit public input.
