Committee members discussed two village-owned parcels—one referenced as 106.5 Comanche behind an apartment building and an adjacent lot between the library and an old laundromat—and agreed the attorney advised a certified appraisal is required before sale or transfer.
"At this time, we at least need to have the the property appraised," a committee member said, and suggested the board be asked to authorize a certified appraiser to value both parcels. Members discussed whether parcels should be appraised separately (they are two separate PINs) and flagged access, gas-line, and utility issues that could affect value and disposition options. One staff member noted tax-exempt paperwork is pending with the county; the village paid property taxes this year because classification paperwork had not been processed when the lots were acquired.
The committee decided to request board approval to hire a certified appraiser, then reconvene once the appraisal results and attorney guidance are available to determine next steps (sell, hold as green space, or otherwise dispose of the parcels).
