Residents urge council to pause Cinnamon Drive bike-lane changes, citing lost parking and safety worries
Summary
Multiple Cinnamon Drive residents told the council that newly striped bike lanes removed curbside parking and raised safety and accessibility concerns for seniors, families and disabled residents; they asked for more outreach, traffic calming and enforcement rather than permanent removal of parking.

Theresa Sanchez told the council she and neighbors learned about bike-lane striping on Cinnamon Drive only after crews began painting and said the changes removed much of the on-street parking residents depend on. "We need more policing. We need help with slowing this traffic down," Sanchez said, adding that the re-striping forces elderly and disabled residents to navigate hazards getting in and out of vehicles.
Stacy Stevens, who also identified herself as a Cinnamon Street resident and a bicyclist, said she supports bicycle safety but urged a balanced approach that preserves essential parking. "Rather than reducing parking, I would encourage the city to focus on addressing the excessive speeding that occurs on our street," Stevens said, and suggested enforcement, speed humps and additional stop signs as alternatives. The mayor noted the project timeline and said staff would bring residents’ feedback to the project team for further consideration.
