Escondido Union High board reviews LCAP priorities and a small funding decline for 2026-27

The Escondido Union High School District presented an update on its Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) on May 5, outlining priorities developed through surveys, student forums and educational partner meetings and noting a projected funding dip for 2026-27. “When you combine that, we're projected to receive 621,000 less in supplemental and concentration funds together,” Dr. Casas said, explaining the reduction is driven by enrollment and will be managed within the district’s existing priorities.
Dr. Casas emphasized the district will not add new actions or services next year, but will shift resources to expand what stakeholders flagged as priorities, such as tutoring and counseling. “There are no new actions and services for 26, 27,” Dr. Casas said, and staff proposed increasing existing tutoring hours and reallocating some site discretionary funding to support the priorities identified by students, parents and site representatives. The district plans to finalize the draft for county review by May 14, post it May 15 for 30 days of public input, and hold a public hearing June 16 before the board takes action June 23.
