City reports signage upgrades, bench replacements and mulch needs across parks

Recreation Coordinator Susan Beres briefed the Committee on a range of maintenance and modest capital items across the City's parks. New signage was completed at the Veterans Memorial Park entrance and Schwartz Road Park over the winter, with plans for additional signs including a Case Road-side sign at Veterans Memorial Park and a future sign for the Department's new office. Staff replaced worn turf and swing-area surfacing at Veterans Memorial Park and removed a hazardous teeter-totter at Schwartz Road Park; a broken slide component awaits a replacement part.
Ms. Beres also reported consideration to replace aging metal benches that show cosmetic and structural wear and noted that some playgrounds, including Schwartz Road Park, need additional mulch to maintain safe surfacing. The Committee emphasized ongoing maintenance as essential to visitor safety and experience.
